gypsyIt’s my party, and I’ll arrange a massive night of balkan gypsy punk dance lunacy if I want to.

So it’s my birthday and I’ve organised a big party. My favourite band in the world are playing – Molotov Jukebox! Plus another amazing band called Drunken Balordi.

If you’re cool, you’re invited. It’s tonight (Friday 31st) at The Victoria in Mile End. See you there….

maxs-type-writerIt is with great sadness that I report the demise of my beloved Power Mac G5 Computer. Time of death was called on Monday 27th July at 5:45pm.

Power Mac G5 started life in humble beginnings in the far east to parents who worked for a large multinational corporation. Showing great aptitude for audio production, Power Mac G5 was fast-tracked to a home in North London, overseeing some now-legendary studio sessions.

Alas this means NO MORE NEW TRACK UPLOADS just yet while I sort out a replacement. I can’t even edit the banner at the top! drat!

I’m on the case tho – I’ll get everything back up and running ASAP!

the_open_roadAh Wales. A land of poets and minstrels, famed men. Not my words – the words of the Welsh national anthem.

Never will it be more true though than this weekend as people flock to the Square Festival in Aberystwyth to see people like Supergrass, The Holloways, Gideon Conn and me.

If you’re in the area come along and say hi! I’ll be on the main stage during the day on Sunday.

hurricane3

As we tried in vein to secure our tent pegs in the dry Spanish earth, one of our number commented in a manner that would have made Michael Fish proud “ah don’t bother guys – there’s no wind in spain”.

Alas of course the Benicassim Festival was ravaged by a hurricane, depriving us of most of the music on the second day. The festival was still a real triumph though, and I’d love to go again.

Anyone else go? What were your highlights? For me it was the double whammy of Peaches followed by 2 many DJs…

inside_my_brand_new_mind

If you’ve been listening to my music a little while, you might already be familiar with this song, but you won’t have heard it sounding like this.

Single three is a brand new arrangement of ‘Inside My Mind’, adding strings, piano, percussion… even a harmonica. You can listen to it using my music box on the right, then download for free just below that.

I’m off to Benicassim Festival for a week now, and I won’t be near a computermable, so I want loads of messages when I get back right?!

Plenty of gigs to look forward to after that – like the Square Festival in Wales and also a great night at the home of british jazz music – Ronnie Scott’s in Soho. Who knows – I might even do something special for the occasion. Nice.

Feet don't fail me now. You'll never get a hold on me. You're never gonna catch me.

I started thinking recently about the nature of struggle, and I ended up with my next single – Feet Don’t Fail Me Now. Download it NOW!!!!

Once again I’m giving it away for free for the next week or two – just click on the download link on the right hand side, then click ‘Go to checkout’ and fill in your details. If you’re too late you’ll have to pay for it in DOSH (£0.79). If you get it for free, I’ll add your email to my mailing list. Fair’s fair.

It’s interesting how universal struggle is. Poor people struggle to survive, rich people struggle with their work / what they look like etc. It’s hard to say one feels worse than the other. Maybe it’s the result of evolution teaching us that people who chill out get eaten (or have nothing to eat)?

I’m calling for an end to this madness! Life’s pretty good right?! Exactly! There’s so much good stuff here. The struggle never goes away so we might as well just enjoy it.

S O – W H A T   D I D   Y O U   D O   T H I S   W E E K E N D?

boy_hand_upAh MISS! MISS! pick ME!!!

OK. This weekend I did a gig with Eddie Kowalczyk at the water rats theatre and saw The Streets and Basement Jaxx in Hyde Park and I went to Ipswich Music Day Festival and did a session with BBC Radio and then played on the Acoustic Stage and it was SO cool and then I had waffles.

Eddie Kowalczyk was REALLY nice and was great and I met some cool people who’d travelled all over the world to be there including Malta which is all the way from Europe. Eddie Kowalczyk is bald and has no hair on his head.

Basement Jaxx were fun and I danced and danced and ate mushy peas.

I had to get up SO early on Sunday to get to Ipswich, and I kept saying “are we nearly there yet?” but there was no one else in the car cos I was driving. I played acoustic songs on the radio and then played more acoustic songs in another tent and then I watched my friend Ed Sheeran who is so amazing sometimes I’m jealous cos his songs are so good and he’s only 18 tho he has ginger hair and mum says ginger people don’t like sunshine. I did lots of songs on the big acoustic stage. There was so many people they were so lovely and they ate candy floss and chips but not together. It was SO good. And then I woke up and it WAS ALL A DREAM. THE END.
